"My yoke is easy...."

Christ said: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matt 11:29-30

So why is life so hard? Sometimes it seems like our burden is heavier than we can bear and like we are holding up the weight of the world. I think everyone has felt a little like this at one time or another.

I've been thinking a lot about this passage and and I've come to realize how absolutely  true and amazing it really is! Christ yoke IS easy and His Burden IS light..... but only if we carry it alone.  He simply asks us to trust and wait. And yes those things can seem very hard but they are only hard if you are trying to bear it yourself and if you don't believe that you can fully trust Christ to provide and you aren't willing to wait for Him to do so.

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt  2 Chr 16:9

There are so many scriptures in the Bible about men that waited.... God blessed king Asa with peace and prosperity until he asked the Syria to come help him. God simply asks us to trust in Him and not in man. Asa took the burden of protection upon himself instead of giving to to God.

There are so many story's of men in the Bible that waited for God and were rewarded and also of men that didn't wait and had to bear a heavier burden for it... .but I'm out of time here so I better run.

My goal is to drop all other burdens and to care only for the burden that the Bible has given us because if we can take up Christs yoke with a perfect heart and trust in Him he will provide all our needs.

Thanks for reading! :)

Thank you, Jeremy.
This morning,as I was reading all the names of Jesus, I too found a peace Trusting This Great Saviour, Jesus Christ. And how His names mean so much like: Jehovah jireh means Provider, and how He is our Rock, our LIGHT, our Strength, and just all we need !
Trying to carry so much alone is prideful, stubborn, and very foolish of children of God. We have a Strong and compassionate God, and yet we won't allow Him to help us with this life on earth that is very heavy. He only requires us to ASK and TAKE. Ask and it shall be given. "Take My Yoke". I thought of this: we wouldn't normally pick up something heavy alone, such as a big freezer or engine. We would get a dolly or many men to help. We would get a pulley, etc.
But we won't allow God to help us with life's burdens. We won't yoke with Him and enjoy the hike up the mountain, or the climb out of the valley with our load. If we were with our friends we would laugh and hang on to one anothers belt or hand as we let them pull us up a steep spot. And what joy we forfeit by not doing the same with God.
With a friend or group in work, we seem to find joy and laughter, and end it all with a pizza party, and a good nights rest, knowing it was a load shared and fellowship was sweet. But why do we not desire to spend even a sweeter fellowship and share a load with Jesus, and have rest? I am ashamed that I have tried so many times to carry the heaviness of my trials alone. I have wasted time in stress, bent over with this load, when I could have had sweet fellowship with Jesus Christ and felt the load come up off my back due to His walking with me and carrying it. HIS YOKE IS EASY.

Jeremy, it is so good of you to share these thoughts, for God used you today to touch my life and encourage me to go ahead and take this step more often.

God Bless and keep you,
Debbie

Jeremy,
You got me to thinking a lot today about this yoke! I went to study it a bit. It was so encouraging to learn of Jesus. And that is what this is all about. Jesus has already learned obedience; so what He tells us to do will be easier than what we try to do in our own yoke(one that is heavy, chaining us to drudgery ( sin) (such as pride, stubborness, and conditions that we allow others to weight us with). Why is another yoke easier? Because His yoke is lined. Yes, lined with His LOVE.
Yes, yokes mean work, but His yoke is easier because of His Love that lines it and the Hope of Heaven. What I read also explained that burdens are not joyous, yet in Christ it becomes "a light affliction" (II Cor. 4).
Thank you Jeremy for your blog post. God used it my life today to help me study and see that He is able to give me that rest with His yoke. The "rest" is rest from the drudgery that sin weights us down with. And he says "learn of Me" and the reason is that He has already learned obedience, so in His school we learn how to become meek and lowly. We learn victory. He knows how to bear the load with His meekness. We, on our own bear the LOAD with a temper maybe, or too hasty or with impatience toward the weak ones. He can help the weak without lashing out at them. We can't without His yoke and by learning how to carry the load with meekness. The "rest" comes from "sitting in His school" and learning His ways, which bring REST (quietness) for the soul instead of Strife.

I have allowed Stress, strife , hastiness, impatience, etc. at times to Weight me down. The burden was Not "light", because I didn't do it the way God would have. I was trying to carry the burden with my own yoke, alone. Now I am allowing Him to put His yoke on me. I am listening, and letting Him do the BIG portion of work. An ox does most of the work and the man behind holds on to the plow. God does the hard work for us and we hang on and if we do what HE says then the burden is lighter and we rest in "assurance" all will turn out. I can find this rest now more than ever in my trial because you were obedient to share this today and The Holy Spirit showed me more meaning in it, and convicted me to TAKE this YOKE and give up mine that is rough and heavy.
